1. Tip of the Month : Simply Ask for a Better Rate

Okay, we all know that this time of year can be slow for hotels but did you know that sometimes better rates are there for the asking. Yup, it’s that simple. Call the hotel directly and ask if there are any specials, check for an Automobile Association rate if you’re a member, or a—heaven-forbid-seniors’ rate if you’re planning a weekend getaway with Mom. If you’ve come up dry, simply ask straight up “Do you have a better rate available?" Don’t beat them up about—they want your bods in their beds and there can be a little wiggle room on rates but not always. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
